This article outlines the typical scenarios for registering and unregistering NCover, and also describes the techniques required to configure the NCover registration program when a computer does not have a connection to the internet.

Hey! Did you know you could register NCover from a build script?

Register With Your Key Code

The easiest technique for registering NCover is simply to give the registration program your keycode and let it register your copy of NCover over the web.

  1. Start the registration program by clicking on the Start Menu, then on All Programs, then open the NCover folder and click on the NCover Registration program.
  2. Enter the license key that you purchased, or the one you received as part of a trial.
  3. Click the Continue button and wait while NCover registers your copy of NCover. If you are behind a corporate proxy, then you should follow the registration instructions for registering without a connection to the internet. Vista users will receive a User Account Control dialog asking for permission to run a program called "NCoverLicense."
  4. Once the registration is successful, click the Finish button. Your copy of NCover is now registered.

Registering NCover With A License File

If you do not have an internet connection on the system that you're registering NCover with, you can download a license file from our website and transfer it to the system with a USB drive or some other form of storage media. To download a license file:

  1. Visit the NCover Manual Key Registration page at http://www.ncover.com/keyRegistration.
  2. Enter your license key into the keycode field, and press the Register button. The website will verify your key and take you to another web page with a link that says Download Your License File. Click on the link and save the license file somewhere on your computer.
  3. Transfer the license file to the computer that you would like to register NCover on.
  4. Go back to the registration program and select the "Activate manually through the NCover website" option, then press the "Continue" button.
  5. Either enter the full path to the license file you downloaded or browse for the file in the file system by using the button next to the field. Once the registration program has validated the license file, the "Register" button will enable.
  6. Click the "Register"button and wait while NCover registers your copy of NCover.
  7. Once the registration is successful, click the Finish button. Your copy of NCover is now registered.

Unregistering NCover

When transferring your NCover license to another computer, you can unregister NCover using the NCover Registration program.

  1. Start the registration program by clicking on the Start Menu, then on All Programs, then open the NCover folder and click on the NCover Registration program.
  2. Select the Remove the NCover license from this machine option.
  3. Click Continue. Once the registration program exits, your NCover license will no longer be on the machine, and none of the NCover programs will execute until another license is registered.
